We’ve got a trio of fabulous children’s authors with us on Monday the 9th of September launching their new books from Two-Hoots. Join us between 7 and 9 pm for a celebration of the new titles by Daisy Hirst, Kate Read and Masie Paradise Shearring!
We’ve been long time fans of Daisy Hirst and lucky enough to host the launches of a number of her Alphonse series of children’s books. We love how her work captures the messiness and joy of childhood and we couldn’t be more excited for her new title Hamish Takes the Train:
”A touching tale about friendship and adventure featuring trains, cranes, a bear and a goose – the perfect bedtime story.
This richly layered story is perfect for reading out loud or for children who have just learned to read.
Hamish the bear and Noreen the goose lead a very good life in the country. They love to spend long days together, watching the trains whoosh past. But Hamish has always wondered what lies at the other end of the train tracks.
And so begins Hamish's adventure as he journeys to the city to explore new places, makes new friends and even gets himself a job on a building site. But ultimately, Hamish realises how much he misses his home and his good friend, Noreen.”
Kate Read recently graduated from the Cambridge School of Art. One Fox is her first children’s title and we were immediately struck by the vivid colour and expressiveness of her mix media illustrations. We’re sure it’ll be a hit!
”A stunning counting book and farmyard thriller from the brilliantly talented debut author and illustrator, Kate Read.
One famished fox with two sly eyes is on the prowl . . . three plump hens had better watch out!
The rich, close-up illustrations take the reader to the heart of the drama in this exciting story set in a moonlit farmyard. With something different to count in every picture, learning numbers from one to ten has never been so much fun, while the story will keep everyone gripped to the last, hugely satisfying page.”
Maisie Paradise Shearring’s first title from Two-Hoots, Anna and Otis, captured our hearts with it’s tender and detailed illustrations and the warmth and honesty of the writing - we’re certain we’ll love her new offering, I’m Actually Really Grown-Up Now:
”A warm and funny childhood story, perfect for fans of Shirley Hughes, from the creator of Anna and Otis.
The grown-ups are having a party, and Meena would really love to join in but instead she's sent to bed. Only grown-ups get to stay up late. So the next day she makes a very important announcement to her parents: "I'm actually really grown-up now!"
In this very funny story we join Meena as she plans her very own grown-up party and explores what it REALLY means to be a grown up. She has a lot of fun experimenting with fashion, going to work and party planning, but she soon finds out that being grown-up might not always be as easy as it seems.”
If you’re up for a hoot or two with these three wonderful creators, we hope you’ll join us on Monday 9th of September from 7 till 9 pm.
