From 7-9pm on Wednesday the 12th of September, our reading group will be covering Nick Drnaso's Sabrina, the first comic to make it onto the Man Booker Prize long list!
It just had to be Sabrina this month, even before the long list was announced, Granta's first foray into comics publishing was causing a stir, and now might be the most talked about comics release of the year.
"Sabrina is missing and the clue to her whereabouts is on a videotape en route to several news outlets, and about to go viral...
Sabrina is a tale of modern mystery, anxiety, fringe paranoia and mainstream misinformation -- a book that tells the story of those left behind in the wake of tragedy has important things to say about how we live now, and possess the rare power to leave readers pulverised."
Nick Drnaso's allusive mystery plot and enigmatic art style mean there are as many standpoints on Sabrina as there are readers, so it's sure to be an interesting night.
The shortlist is announced on the 20th, but we hope you'll be joining us to ask the essential questions on Wednesday 12th of September 7-9pm: Is it worthy of winning the highly coveted Man Booker Prize? And more importantly: where is Sabrina?
If you can't make it down to the shop and would like a copy of Sabrina, it can be ordered via our webshop.
