It’s Drink & Draw time with our friends at Broken Frontier! We have Andrew Rae, David Jesus Vignolli and Gareth Brookes! The event will be Thursday, May 31st from 6.30-9pm.
Gareth Brookes IS contributor to such publications as The Comix Reader and Banal Pig with Steve Tillotson. In 2012 he won the Myriad First Graphic Novel Competition that in turn resulted in the publication of The Black Project, a combination of embroidery and linocut. It won the 2013 Broken Frontier Award for Best Original Graphic Novel. His self-published works include Can I Borrow Your Toilet?, The Land of My Heart Chokes on Its Abundance, The Smell of the Wild. In 2014 Avery Hill Publishing brought his and Steve Tillotson’s Manly Boys Annual and Comely Girls Annual to print. His most recent graphic novel was A Thousand Coloured Castles with Myriad. He recently released a small press follow-up to The Black Project, called Afterward.
Andrew Rae is a London-based illustrator and member of the Peepshow Collective. He is a regular contributes to The New York Times Magazine and works with clients such as The London Science Museum, Google and The Guardian. He was art director the BBC animation Monkey Dust. His graphic novel Moonhead and the Music Machine is published by Nobrow and he has illustrated This is Warhol, This is Dali, Where’s Warhol and My Crazy Inventions Sketchbook published by Laurence King.
David Jesus Vignolli originally from Brazil, and now lives in London. He is the founder of Visual Scribing, a London-based graphic facilitation company. He recently published with Archaia his debut graphic novel, A Girl In The Himalayas. The story follows a young girl whose unexpected arrival in the magical land of immortal beings threatens the sanctuary's existence. Hosted by Gosh’s Nora Goldberg and Broken Frontier’s Andy Oliver! The Drink and Draw will begin at Gosh! at 6.30pm with an opportunity to buy work from the featured artists at a discounted price before heading to the evening’s location of choice. Art supplies are provided by our sponsor Cass Art. At 7pm we will be going to a local pub, Kings Arms to begin our drinking and drawing! You can follow the event on Facebook.
