DRINK & DRAW OCTOBER EDITION

It’s Drink & Draw time with our friends at Broken Frontier! This coming month we have special guests James Albon, Cathy Brett and Dan White ! The event will be Thursday, October 25th!

James Albon is an illustrator from Scotland. His clients include the Folio Society, The Guardian and the Wall Street Journal. He studied illustration at Edinburgh College of Art, went on to a postgraduate scholarship at the Royal Drawing School in London, and was awarded the Gwen May award from the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers in 2012. His comics work includes Her Bark & Her Bite (Top Shelf, 2017), Madame & Me - a short comic that was a finalist for the Observer/Cape Prize, and Faux Amis printed in the french anthology Bermuda.

Cathy Brett has been a theatre scenic artist, a packaging designer, a fashion illustrator, and a school art technician. She published in 2009 Ember Fury, a illustrated teen novel, which was followed by Scarlett Dredd in 2012 and Verity Fibbs in 2011. Her other published work includes From Everything Is Fine (and other lies I tell myself), Everything Is Fine (And Other Lies I Tell Myself) and GRAPHIC (Barrington Stoke). In 2016 she and writer Jo Cotterill, created the Electrigirl Series for Oxford University Press. She recently worked on a comic series for Scoop Magazine, an innovative museum exhibit, an artist's residency and a graphic novel which was shortlisted for the Laydeez Do Comics Prize. 

Dan White is the creator of the self-published, all-ages, monster-hunting Cindy & Biscuit, runs the website The Mindless Ones, and co-hosts of the popular SILENCE podcast. He won Young Person’s Comic Award nomination as part of the British Comic Awards for Cindy & Biscuit. He also created the comic series Terminus.


This event will be Thursday, October 25th at the Kings Arms pub. 

Hosted by Gosh’s Nora Goldberg and Broken Frontier’s Andy Oliver, the evening will provide an opportunity for attendees to find their artistic muse in a relaxed and informal atmosphere in the company of a rotating list of guest creators from across all areas of comics publishing. With such a great group of creators, you certainly won’t be in want of inspiration!

The Drink and Draw will begin at Gosh! at 6.30pm with an opportunity to buy work from the featured artists at a discounted price before heading to the evening’s location of choice. At 7pm we will be going to a local pub, Kings Arms to begin our drinking and drawing! You can follow the event on Facebook.
