In association with Safari Festival and Breakdown Press, we'll be launching not one, not two, but FOUR new titles at our massive Safari Festival Pre-Party! Liam Cobb, Antoine Cossé, Shaky Kane and Richard Short will be here to toast the launch of their new books on Friday, 11th August, 7-9pm!
Liam will be debuting Conditioner, the Risograph follow-up to his ELCAF award-winning book Shampoo. A collection of short pieces exploring surreal intersections of architecture and the wild.
From Antoine we'll have Showtime, the story of a world-famous magician known only as 'M' which blurs the lines between what is real and what is a trick.
His complex narrative draws on recent lines of public intellectual enquiry into the power of collective memory, how myth and fable can be used to construct identity, and whether individual psychology can ever effect objective reality.
Antoine has done us a special limited edition bookplate foe the book, which will be available in-store from the evening of the party, or can be pre-ordered from our online store.
The long awaited Good News Bible from Shaky Kane is here at last!
The book collects his complete comic strips and illustrations from the groundbreaking British counter-culture magazine, Deadline, which between 1988 and 1995 spawned Jamie Hewlett's Tank Girl and launched dozens of cartoonists' careers.
Shaky has done us an exclusive bookplate, limited to 200 copies, that will be available on the night, or can be pre-ordered now through our online store.
And finally, Richard brings us the third issue of Klaus Magazine, a portmanteau of 4-panel strips combining into a feature-length narrative entitled It's A Lush Life, Klaus.
As a bonus, a collection of guest artists also contribute strips, including Anna Haifisch & Lando.
And of course the evening will be a great warm-up for the Safari Festival, happening on Saturday 12th August from 11-6pm at Protein Gallery, 32 New Inn Yard, EC2A 3EV. The Safari Festival is the brainchild of Breakdown Press, intended as a showcase for new waves in contemporary comics and art. All our Friday night attendees will be there along with a host of other exceptional talent. You can find more details here.
So come on down and have a drink to celebrate the release of these great new titles, and help see in Safari 2017. If you can't make it, but fancy getting a signed book, drop us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a reservation or mail order.
