The creative team collectively known as Metaphrog, aka Sandra Marrs and John Chalmers, will be here for a very special edition of Process on Wednesday 28th June, 7.30-9pm!
Metaphrog garnered a great deal of critical success in the early 2000's with their character Louis, who they spun increasingly sophisticated tales of in a series of wonderful all-ages graphic novels published over the course of the next decade (Louis and the Night Salad is a particular highlight - be sure to check it out). Along with a cult following here and abroad, they collected a range of awards for the books.
But in 2015 they changed tack with The Red Shoes and Other Tales, a collection of Hans Christian Andersen adaptations published by Papercutz. The book was exceptionally well-received, and in 2016 Metaphrog was awarded the title for Sunday Herald Scottish Culture Awards Best Visual Artist 2016.
Two years later they are back with another Andersen adaptation, this time adapting his most famous work, The Little Mermaid, as a self-contained graphic novel. All of their usual skill is on display in this effective, moving work that is suitable for all ages.
And so we're thrilled to be able to host John and Sandra here for a special edition of our semi-regular Process event series, to discuss with them their career and process, focusing particularly on The Little Mermaid, but no doubt encompassing a broad range of topics.
So come along to meet one of UK comics' most talented couples (not to mention one of the nicest) for the usual insight and inspiration that Process offers! Can't make it on the night? Drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a reservation or mail order.
