First up this week, pre-orders for signed copies of Tommy Gun Wizards #1 are now available here. The new genre bending comic written by Christian Ward (Black Bolt, Invisible Kingdom) with art from Sami Kivela looks to hit that sweet spot between Boardwalk Empire and Harry Potter, where gangsters become wizards and bootleggers are peddling magic instead of booze. Despite that ridiculous heatwave last week, Drink & Draw still took place with a great turn out. Our very own Clare took the helm for the first time and did a great job, mazel tov. Thank you to everyone who made it down, it’s always great to see a bunch of happy people drawing away and making comics, thanks to our special guest artists Tor Freeman & Gary Northfield. Don’t worry, if you couldn’t bare the heat and missed out on this one there will be another next month on August 29th! Something to definitely look forward to.

Powers of X is the other half of superstar writer Johnathan Hickman’s brand new X-Men relaunch. And if you read House of X last week you’ll know this is gearing up to be an the comic event of the summer. Powers of X reveals the secret past, present and future of mutantkind, changing the way you look at every X-Men story before and after. Does that mean retconnning old stories? Who knows. This could be the seminal chapter of the X-Men that long terms fans have been waiting for. Pick up both Powers of X and House of X if you haven’t already, it’s unmissable.

Definitely worth checking out for long terms fans or people who have never heard of this gem of this character. Looking for an action packed thrill ride of a comic? Yes? Then this is for you.

Leo Baxendale’s Sweeny Toddler is back, this collects all Toddler strips from Shiver and Shake and Whoopee! One of the most highly-regarded cartoonists in British comics, Baxendale has been responsible for creating many classic strips, including Minnie the Minx and The Bash Street Kids. If you’re a fan of the original terrible toddler you should definitely check out some of Baxendale’s best work. This also includes an introduction from long-time Baxendale fan, Lew Stringer plus 6 colour pages completely re-mastered from the original work and re-instated in this luxury format. Be sure not to miss out on a timeless classic.
