HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK
XERXES FALL OF HOUSE OF DARIUS #1 (OF 5)
Writer/Artist: Frank Miller
Publisher: Dark Horse
Returning to the world of 300 with this new sprawling historical epic Frank Miller writes and draws this long-awaited companion to his critically acclaimed work! Persian King Xerxes sets out to conquer the world to avenge his father Darius's defeat and create an empire, unlike anything the world has ever seen. It's only when confronted by the hardy Greeks god-king of their own - Alexander the Great - that Xerxes has any doubt of his dominance. Fans have been waiting a long time for Miller to make a fully fledged return to comics as a solo creator as such Xerexes could be one of the biggest books of the year!

HEAD LOPPER TP VOL 02 CRIMSON TOWER
Writer/Artist: Andrew MacLean
Andrew MacLean's follow up to 2016's smash hit Head Lopper The Island or A Plague of Beasts is our latest signed and exclusive bookplate edition (which you can feast your eyes on below.) You might recall we did a sell out bookplate for the first volume so when the chance to work with Andrew again presented itself we just couldn't say no., and this beautiful bookplate edition is the result.
In a quiet region of the world, an ancient evil stirs. The Crimson Tower is awake! Blood has not wet its face for an age, but the tower runs red once more. Warriors from distant lands are drawn to its gate with revenge, or glory, in their hearts. Many will enter, few will return. The Head Lopper and the living head of Agatha Blue Witch, with old friends and new, battle for their lives! Evoking Conan, Hellboy and classic fighting fantasy books but rendered in an infinitely pleasing contemporary graphic take on Mike Mignola Head Lopper is one of our favourite and one the best comics on the shelves.

The first of two excellent new Image series. Kicking off with Brenden Fletcher, Karl Kerschl and Msassyk's Isola. Capturing the tone and feel of the work of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli whilst blending it with a modern comics aesthetic to startling effect. Isola is a breathtaking fantasy adventure, with art so rich and lush as to rival even the best of animation studios. The captain of the Royal Guard has fled the capital city with the Queen of Maar, suffering under the effects of an evil spell. Captain Rook's only hope of returning Queen Olwyn to her throne and saving the kingdom from impending war lies on an island half a world away-a place known in myth as Isola, the land of the dead. Not since Orc Stain have we been as keenly excited for a new fantasy book!

Writer: Gerry Duggan
Artist: David O'Sullivan
The other must-read new Image book this week is superstar writer Gerry Duggan and everyone's new favourite artist David O'Sullivan's Analog. Five years from now: the security of the internet has been totally destroyed. Secrets are no longer sent over the web, they're entrusted to armed couriers called "Ledger Men," like human punching-bag Jack McGinnis. He's got a gun in one hand and a briefcase handcuffed to the other. Danger lurks around every corner, and Jack has to watch his back because he had a part in the cyber attack that changed the world. Slick and modern sci-fi noir, more China Town than Blade Runner, Analog reads like BKV and Marcos Martin's Private Eye run through Brubaker and Phillips crime comics.

GOAT GETTERS HC
Writer/Artist: Eddie Campbell
Illustrious writer and artist Eddie Campbell is a big-time favourite with everyone at Gosh. Goat Getters, his latest release is an intriguing and exciting prospect. With more than 500 period cartoons, The Goat Getters illustrates how comics were developed by such luminaries as Rube Goldberg, Tad Dorgan, and George Herriman in the sports and lurid crime pages of the daily newspaper. This wild bunch of West Coast-based cartoonists established the dynamic anatomy and bold, tough style that continue to influence comics today, as well as their own goofy slang that enriched the popular lexicon. The Goats Getters also captures early twentieth century-history through the lens of the newspaper comics: the landmark 1910 boxing match in Reno, Nevada between Jim Jeffries, the "Great White Hope," and Jack Johnson, the first African-American heavyweight champion; the nationwide race riots that followed; the San Francisco graft trials that culminated in the shooting of the Federal Prosecutor; and the trial of Harry Thaw for the murder of architect Stanford White, a crime of passion that centered on Thaw's wife, show-girl Evelyn Nesbitt Thaw-all were venerated or vilified by Nell Brinkley, Jimmy Swinnerton, and their fellow directors of the ink and newsprint stage.

CURSE OF BRIMSTONE #1
Writer: Justin Jordan
Artist: Philip Tan
A curse has befallen DC's new age of superheroes as Joe Chamberlain makes a pact with the devil. From the excellent creative line up of Justin Jordan and Philip Tan comes Curse of Brimstone. In a desperate bid to save his small town, Joe Chamberlain forges a deal with the devil which sees his human body become the host for the power of Brimstone. With the power of fire and destruction coursing through his hands, Joe must now track down and destroy the demon he made his deal with before the power he now wields destroys the town he was trying to save. But as the fiery pain inside him grows, can this young man overcome his own demons before his power rips him apart from the inside out? With three volumes of Luther Strode under his belt demonstrating how well Jordan can write a nuanced, smart and high action superhero book we have high hopes for this new outing.

An ancient power source that can manipulate space and time is buried deep in a barren world and Juno, the last human, must embark on a dangerous journey to find it. Her mission is simple: go back in time and save humanity from extinction. The cost? Her life.
