Overseas publishers of Very Nice Comic Things Hic & Hoc have enlisted some Brits you may be familiar with to edit their second volume of the Hic & Hoc Illustrated Journal Of Humo(u)r (see what they did there?). Gosh! favourite Lizz Lunney, author of such lovely works like Depressed Cat and At The Theme Park, and also-Gosh!-favourite Joe List, who you may know from his frequent doodlings over Guardian newspaper publications, have put together a collection of the best of the UK comics scene, out to tickle your funny bone.
Here is the official announcement from the Comics Reporter:
“Matt Moses of Hic & Hoc officially confirmed with CR this weekend that they’ve announced a second issue of their well-liked funny-comics anthology. Joe List and Lizz Lunney will co-edit The Hic & Hoc Illustrated Journal Of Humo(u)r Volume Two: The United Kingdom to arrive in September. It will contain work from 25 British small-press comics makers, including but certainly not limited to Becky Barnicoat, Gareth Brookes, Stephen Collins, Joe Decie, Luke Pearson and Philippa Rice. Jon Boam supplies the cover.”
There’s also a post from Lizz about it here, and here is one of her pages from the Journal:
And if that wasn’t enough to make you excited, we’ll be celebrating The Illustrated Journal Of Humo(u)r’s launch here in the shop on the 25th of October from 7pm to 9pm, with free booze, a bunch of the creators, and our usual panache. It will be A Good One <tm>.
If you can’t make it down on the day but would like to reserve a copy that’s been scribbled on by the creators who can make it, give us a shout over firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll put one aside for you. Otherwise, see you there!
